Harper - Sycamore 2027

Harper and I spent the most beautiful Thursday evening in early August at the Sycamore Forest Preserve (my favorite) and her high school football field! The weather was literally PERFECT and the skies were gorgeous with a little bit of golden hour sun.

Harper has been a studio dancer her whole life, and has been on the Sycamore Spartanette Dance Team for her freshman and senior year of high school! We started the session on the field, and then took photos on the track (where they dance during games), and in the bleachers. I LOVE Sycamore’s simple color scheme of black and gold, and even though her team uniforms weren’t in before her session, her outfit matched perfectly with the school spirit vibe. SO elevated and classy!

We got to the Sycamore Forest Preserve at the perfect time of day, with the sun starting to get soft and lower in the sky. Harper was looking for dreamy, candid photos with delicate flowers and tall prairie grasses. One of the reasons I LOVE this forest preserve is because it has a mix of so many nature backgrounds.

We utilized some of the grassy paths in between the wildflowers so she could move freely and I could capture naturally-posed photos with lots of movement!

Harper also brought a bouquet of flowers that matched our scene perfectly! This is such a great prop for my clients who have “I don’t know what to do with my hands” panic.

Harper was SO natural in front of the camera and so easy to work with! All of our locations and poses came very naturally. We also had some gorgeous lighting right at the perfect time while we were in the wildflowers.

Finally, we ended at the base of the bike path bridge! I love to utilize this as a background element for my seniors who prefer more nature-focused photos. Harper brought this adorable teddy bear as a keepsake for her boyfriend, Calvin, who is at Army West Point. It was sooo sweet and I love when my seniors incorporate super meaningful items in their session. My eyes are getting misty just thinking about it!

A huge thank you to Harper and her mom Liz for an incredible evening in Sycamore. I absolutely love being a part of this community in Northern Illinois, and sessions like these remind me how lucky I am to be here, doing what I love!
